The autumn edition of Local Trends is behind us!

The coming toan end of October is undoubtedly one of the more active months in our company. Among the events in which we had the pleasure of participating was this year's fall edition of Local Trends. It was the European Local Government Forum held in Poznań, organized on October 14-15, 2024 at the Poznań Congress Center. Once again, we were able not only to appear with our booth, but also to take an active part in this event during the lectures organized as part of the Forum.

What is Local Trends?

The idea behind the events held as part of Local Trends - both the May Local Government Financial Congress in Sopot and the past European Local Government Forum in Poznań - is primarily to initiate discussion. According to the assumptions of the organizers, the purpose of both meetings is to engage in dialogue between representatives of local government units, business, science and government administration. For this reason, each time the program of the event takes into account the issues most relevant to the development of Polish villages, towns, municipalities, cities and regions.

The role of UCO recovery in the maintenance and modernization of water and wastewater infrastructure

On the very first day of Local Trends, EMKA S.A.'s CEO, Krzysztof Rdest, had the honor of participating in a panel discussion, titled "Maintenance and modernization of water and wastewater infrastructure in urban and rural areas." The debate focused on key challenges and opportunities related to the management, maintenance and modernization of water and wastewater infrastructure, both in urban and rural areas. From the perspective of our company and also EMKA Oil - it was important to discuss what models of cooperation between UCO companies and local governments can contribute to better protection of infrastructure and the environment. The debate also served to try to find an answer to the question of what benefits such cooperation brings to cities and municipalities.

From the kitchen to the airplane, or the fifth dimension of recycling

On the next day of Local Trends, Paweł Retmaniak, Network Development Manager at Emka S.A., appeared on the Good Practices Stage. Attendees gathered in the audience were able to listen to a power speech delivered on the topic "From the Kitchen to the Airplane, or the Fifth Dimension of Recycling. How to effectively organize universal collection of used cooking oil at the municipal level". During the speech, the audience learned, among other things, that used cooking oil (UCO), instead of being a problem, can be a valuable resource. The negative consequences of improper handling of UCO, such as pouring it down the drain, were also discussed. At the same time, the audience was able to learn how local initiatives can turn this waste into a resource for the production of biofuels, cleaning products and cosmetics.

There was no shortage of our booth

As is standard, guests gathered at the Poznań Congress Center, speakers and participants of the European Self-Government Forum could get acquainted with our offer at the stand prepared by us. In addition to our representatives, who were willing to talk, UCOllector was also waiting for them. In this way, we were able to show both a theoretical and practical approach to the issue of used cooking oil disposal in a simple way.
