10September 2024 Michalowice Municipality has taken another step towards sustainable development, joining the National Collection of Used Cooking Oil (UCO). As many as three state-of-the-art UCOllectors - devices that will allow residents to conveniently donate used cooking oil while taking care of the environment - will appear in the municipality.
Why are UCOllectors so important?
Used cooking oil is a waste that cannot be ignored. When poured down the drain, it clogs pipes, damages infrastructure and pollutes the environment. It can seep into groundwater, negatively affecting the quality of drinking water and soil. The municipality of Michalowice was one of the first in the region to respond effectively to this problem, introducing a revolutionary UCO collection system.
How do the UCOllectors work?
Oilmats are state-of-the-art devices that allow residents to donate used oil in special eco-friendly bottles. After registering on a free mobile app, users can pick up an empty bottle intended for oil. Once the bottle is filled with used oil, it can be returned to the UCOllectors, earning points redeemable for attractive prizes such as tree seedlings or other ecological gifts.

With a dedicated mobile app available for iOS and Android devices, the collection process is simple and convenient. The app allows you to locate the nearest UCOllector, manage your points and exchange them for rewards. There are also detailed collection instructions and educational materials to promote environmental protection.
