12June 2024, Redzikowo municipality has joined the Nationwide Collection of Used Cooking Oil (UCO). It is here that Poland's first Oil Mats will appear - a milestone to expand the number of waste fractions that can be collected and segregated by households across Poland.
Redzikowo, as the first municipality in Poland, has set an example of an innovative approach to the collection of cooking oil, creating a space where ecology, modern technology and education combine to benefit both residents and the environment as a whole. Thanks to the commitment of the authorities and residents, the locality has become a model for other municipalities in Poland. The introduction of UCOllectors, as an innovative project, confirms that Redzikowo is ready for further development in the direction of sustainable growth. It is also an inspiration for other localities that can take similar measures to protect the environment.
Oilmats - a modern collection system for used cooking oil
Oilmats is an innovative system that allows municipalities to create a network of points where residents can donate used cooking oil (UCO). This revolutionary initiative aims to significantly increase the level of recycling and waste recovery at the local level. The system includes special machines - UCOllectors, eco-friendly oil collection bottles, an interactive mobile application, as well as a comprehensive logistics, recycling and reporting process. The project is also supported by extensive educational and ecology-promoting activities, including EMKA Oil's flagship campaign - "Oil you pass, tree you have!"
"You pass the oil, you get the tree!" - how does UCOllector work?
As part of the "You pass the oil, you get the tree!" program, after registering on the app in advance, the user receives an empty bottle made of eco-friendly materials that can withstand the high temperature of the oil. The average household oil collection time is about a month and a half. After filling the bottle, the user returns it to the nearest UCOllector, and points are credited to his account. These points can be exchanged for attractive prizes, such as tree seedlings. One bottle of oil equals 50 points, and for 300 points a user can receive an ecological prize.
Intuitive mobile app
The UCOllectors mobile app is an easy-to-use tool that allows you to easily manage the UCO collection process. The app is available on iOS and Android devices. To use it, you need to create an account, collect points for donated oil, and then exchange them for rewards. The app also allows you to locate the nearest Oilmobile, offers instructions on how to properly collect oil, and access environmental education materials.

As part of the project, there will be as many as 8 UCOllectors in the Redzikowo municipality, which will be placed in various locations, including:

The innovative system of Olejomaty, which will appear in Redzikowo, aims not only to increase recycling rates, but also to involve local communities in the environmental process. The project will be successively implemented in other municipalities, and Redzikowo is a model to follow, showing how small, innovative initiatives can lead to big changes for sustainable development.
